The Basic Principles of success
There’s hardly any young person who want to be a failure in
life. If you ask any youth what future ambitions he has, you’ll be fascinated
by what he’ll tell you.
Never heard any one say he wants to be a garage tout or a bus conductor. He only wants to be a doctor, a lawyer, an engineer, a teacher or a pilot; name it.
He wants to get the peak of what ever career or vocation he chooses in life. And this is a good desire. There’s nothing you desire to become in life that you cannot become if you put your mind into it, and keep to certain success principles, whilst having and maintaining a working relationship with the Giver of good success-God.

Daniel and his three Hebrew friends, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, as students in Babylon, understood that the secret of their success didn’t depend solely on their intelligence, but also on God. So, they made a righteous stand for God by refusing to eat of the portion of the king’s meal (Daniel 1:8).
The result at the end of the academic session showed that they were ten times better than their mates. The pursuit of success outside Christ will end in frustration, failure and futility.
Like Daniel and His friends, you must make up your mind to decides and stand for Christ, no matter what you are faced with in your pursuit for excellence.
Now, here are some useful tips that will be very helps to you as you navigate your way to the Zenith of your career and all of life’s Endeavor

- A friend must add value to
your life for him to qualify to be your friend.
Avoid unequal yoke with unbelievers. Associate with the godly and the ‘go-getter.’ Your friends affect how you think, feel, act and react.

- Avoid time wasting activities. A lot of youths waste much time on surfing the internet and idle chat with friends online. Although the internet and smart phones have many benefits for you as a student, they are to be carefully and prayerfully used, as they can direct or even damn your soul.
- Dream and work hard. Dream of what and who you wish to be. Create a personal mission statement which will act as a road map and guide you. Set goals so that your energy can be focused. Ask yourself these questions: who am I why am I here? Where do I go from here? Make sacrifices to actualize your dreams. Success doesn’t come easy. Also, be aware of dream killers and avoid them.
- Be a studious youth. To succeed, you must burn the mid-night oil. Good success doesn’t come easy. Shake off your habitual indolence (Proverbs 22 :13). Stop the habit of making excuses. Only one thing separate success and failure-excuse! Great achievers are also early risers.
