The Basic principles of success

                                                        The Basic Principles of success
There’s hardly any young person who want to be a failure in life. If you ask any youth what future ambitions he has, you’ll be fascinated by what he’ll tell you.

Never heard any one say he wants to be a garage tout or a bus conductor. He only wants to be a doctor, a lawyer, an engineer, a teacher or a pilot; name it.

He wants to get the peak of what ever career or vocation he chooses in life. And this is a good desire. There’s nothing you desire to become in life that you cannot become if you put your mind into it, and keep to certain success principles, whilst having and maintaining a working relationship with the Giver of good success-God.

Daniel and his three Hebrew friends, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, as students in Babylon, understood that the secret of their success didn’t depend solely on their intelligence, but also on God. So, they made a righteous stand for God by refusing to eat of the portion of the king’s meal (Daniel 1:8).

The result at the end of the academic session showed that they were ten times better than their mates. The pursuit of success outside Christ will end in frustration, failure and futility.

Like Daniel and His friends, you must make up your mind to decides and stand for Christ, no matter what you are faced with in your pursuit for excellence.

Now, here are some useful tips that will be very helps to you as you navigate your way to the Zenith of your career and all of life’s Endeavor
  • Have self-confidence. Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me” be confident that through the help of God and your own hard work you will make it in life.
  • Choose your friends wisely. Don’t be a loner like Samson; neither keep bad company like Amon. The friendship between Jonathan and David is an example of godly friendship (1 Samuel 18:1).
  • A friend must add value to your life for him to qualify to be your friend.
Avoid unequal yoke with unbelievers. Associate with the godly and the ‘go-getter.’ Your friends affect how you think, feel, act and react.
  •  Avoid time wasting activities. A lot of youths waste much time on surfing the internet and idle chat with friends online. Although the internet and smart phones have many benefits for you as a student, they are to be carefully and prayerfully used, as they can direct or even damn your soul.
  •  Dream and work hard. Dream of what and who you wish to be. Create a personal mission statement which will act as a road map and guide you. Set goals so that your energy can be focused. Ask yourself these questions: who am I why am I here? Where do I go from here? Make sacrifices to actualize your dreams. Success doesn’t come easy. Also, be aware of dream killers and avoid them.
  • Be a studious youth. To succeed, you must burn the mid-night oil. Good success doesn’t come easy. Shake off your habitual indolence (Proverbs 22 :13). Stop the habit of making excuses. Only one thing separate success and failure-excuse! Great achievers are also early risers.
  • Realize that no situation is peculiar to you. So, don’t take setbacks personal. Disappointment is a part of life. Failure is only an indication that you need to work harder. It also teaches you what it takes to do something aright. You should learn from failure.
  • Acknowledge god and know He cannot be limited. And just ask God can’t be limited, so can you not be limited in life.
  • Dare to be different. Daniel and his three friends dared to be different, and they stood out among others. To stand out among your peers, you must dare to be different.
  • Take risks. Don’t sit back making excuses. Not trying is worse than failing. Don’t’ give up.
  • Stay committed to your set goal, no matter what the hurdles are. Attaining your goal is what matters, not how long it takes.
  • Be focused. Scars can be turned to stars. Don’t spoil your tomorrow with the pain of yesterday.
  • Have a workable Time-table
  • Get extra help where necessary.
  • work ahead of your class. Get books and use the internet wisely
  • work with fellow youths of like minds. Have a discussion group that you can rub minds with and trash ‘naughty’ topics or subjects.
  • learn from the success of others.
  • Engage in leisure that is truly beneficial and isn’t displeasing to God. All works and no play make jack a dull boy.
  • Have a sense of humour, but avoid jesting (Ephesians 5:4)
  • create good time for rest. This will help you keep things in perspective and disallow despair.
  • Don’t blame others; accept the consequences of your own actions. Understand you are responsible for your own success or otherwise.
  • Above all, regularly renew and strengthen the four key dimensions of life which are body, brain, heart and soul. When these are balanced, you can be sure of good success

The sleeping giants and the weakling in Life

                            The Sleeping Giants,

"A weakling who is awake and  daring is by far better than a sleeping giant"

Brian Tracy once said, "The height of great men, won and kept, were not achieved by sudden flight. But while their companions slept, they were toiling upward in the night". It is quite unfortunate that so many dreams died unachieved and many good visions, promising potentials and talents are lying fallow and dormant; the possessors of those great dreams and potentials are "sleeping". No dream can be achieved while sleeping, a weakling who is up and daring is by far better than a sleeping giant. Your preset state is the result of how you lived your life yesterday, and your future can be predicted by the way you live your life today. To every action they is an equal and opposite reaction.

No doubt unsuccessful people cannot lack excuses to give. They are ready to defend their irresponsibility by all means and at all cost, but we cannot rule out the fact that laziness, procrastination, irresponsibility and lack of self discipline have been the indices of failures. "There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure (Colin Powell). It takes conscious effort to succeed. The man at the top didn't fall there; he worked himself to the top. Anything you don't work, never work for you. If you wish to be successful then you must start working and walking to the top else, you'll be disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. The reason why things are not working for you is that you do not work. Greatness is achievable, but not without a price. You either pay the price for success now and enjoy the result or you keep killing your dream by being irresponsible and then, live the rest of your life being miserable, worthless, and full of regrets.

Though Life does not give everybody equal starting point; there are those who must struggle through thick and thin in life to be able to get things done. It is noteworthy that heroes are known by the amount of obstacles they are able to overcome. Moreover, smooth seas never make a skilled sailor neither does a road without obstacles lead to anywhere important. All you need is the will and the willpower. All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them( Walt Disney). John Mason puts it: " worst than quitter is the man who is afraid to begin" Start immediately Walter Winkle has this to say "If you think you are beaten, you are; If you think you dare not, you dare not, you don't. If you think you'll loose, you've lost; for out of the world we find that success begins with a fellow's will; it's all in the state of the mind. Life battles don't always go to the stronger and faster man, but sooner or later the man who wins is the man who thinks he can" the likes of Ben Carson, Thomas Edison, Bill Gate and Abraham Lincoln (just to mention but few) didn't enjoy a good starting point; they rose above all limitations to make their mark on the sand of time.

Let your decision to start pursuing your dreams be followed by a dogged determination to remain focused despite distractions. Withdraw from people who are attempting to give you reasons why you cannot make it. Make friends with goal-oriented people; you become like the people you continually associate with. Be deaf when people tell you that you cannot make it. When the two wright brothers were fully convinced that they could make an Aeroplane, they were stopping them. A New York editorial on December 10th  1903 mocked their wisdom of trying to invent and fly an object heavier than air. However, a weak later, they made the first powered flight at Kitty Hawk. Don't listen to small thinkers who would want to make you do same. wake up, set your goals and start working, in times to come when you've finally succeeded, those who disbelieve the possibility of achieving your dream will celebrate you. It is never too late to be what you might have been. You can achieve almost every goal withing your own ability if you must think you can and you must the price. Remember a weakling who is up and daring is by far better than a sleeping giant
